Comprehensive Training Modules

The BLS awareness talk, organized by Empower Academy, was structured to offer participants a comprehensive understanding of CPR, choking interventions, and the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs).

1. CPR for Adults and Babies:
Participants learned the critical steps of performing CPR on both adults and infants. The training covered the correct technique for chest compressions and rescue breaths, as well as the appropriate depth and rate for effective resuscitation. The hands-on practice sessions allowed participants to build confidence and proficiency in these life-saving skills.

2. Choking Relief for Adults and Babies:
The program also included detailed instruction on how to manage choking emergencies. Participants were taught how to recognize the signs of choking and the steps to take to clear an airway obstruction. This segment of the training was particularly pertinent, given that choking can occur both in adults and in young children, making these skills invaluable for the participants’ everyday lives.

3. Exposure to Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs):
A significant addition to this year’s training was the inclusion of AED usage. Participants were introduced to the AED, a portable device that can analyze the heart’s rhythm and deliver an electric shock if needed to restore a normal rhythm during cardiac arrest. The session provided a hands-on demonstration of how to operate an AED, including how to place the electrode pads on the patient and how to follow the device’s prompts. Understanding how to use an AED is crucial, as it can dramatically increase the chances of survival for someone experiencing sudden cardiac arrest.

Engaged and Enthusiastic Learners

The group of 20 participants, primarily housewives and home-based nursery owner, displayed an admirable eagerness to learn. Their engagement was palpable throughout the session as they actively participated in practical demonstrations and asked insightful questions.

For housewives, who often find themselves in domestic emergencies, and home nursery owner, who are responsible for the safety of young children, the skills acquired during this talk are particularly relevant. The training not only empowers them to act confidently in emergency situations but also fosters a sense of community responsibility and preparedness.

The choice of Masjid Taman Subang Perdana as the venue for this important program underscored the community-oriented approach of the event. The mosque, a central gathering place for the local community, provided an accessible and welcoming environment for participants. This alignment with community values and accessibility was a testament to the organizers’ commitment to making essential training available to everyone.
