Electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG) interpretation is an essential skill for nurses, enabling early detection of cardiac abnormalities and prompt patient care. It involves reading and analyzing the electrical activity of the heart as recorded by electrodes placed on the body. By understanding ECG patterns, nurses can assist in identifying life-threatening arrhythmias, myocardial infarction (heart attack), electrolyte imbalances, and other cardiac conditions.
